Back To School, 2025

Heyo! Paulette and I had a great time celebrating our first 25 years together, and we got to recharge with hiking (3,400 ft elevation), biking (60+ miles), and kayaking the fjords of Norway. Norwegians are a happy people, and who wouldn't be with views like this?!
And now, it is so very good to be back in the dojang with y'all! I've started another round of one-on-one conversations, checking in on how you and your students are doing, and re-affirming our goals to blackbelt. I am inspired by your dedication and drive, keep it up!
What's coming up?
6th Ave Block Party
Tomorrow, we will be demonstrating what life is like at the dojang! Meet at the studio @ 12:30 sharp. We'll plan our demo, gather our equipment, and walk over together. We are going to have so much fun, and hopefully recruit some new students!
SF-Marin Food Bank Volunteer Day
Saturday, Sept 6th @ 9AM. We meet at 900 Peninsula Ave in SF to spend a few hours helping the food bank organize their food. We'll have a good time together, helping a worthy cause! Sign Up Now!
Summer Gup Test?
Tentatively scheduled for Sept 13th. I'll be evaluating potential candidates over the next two weeks to determine who is eligible. Remember, I'm looking for regular attendance in class, and also dedication to the consistent practice of tang soo do.
Region 1 Fall Dan Test & PNW Invitational
Starting Friday Sept 26th in Vancouver WA (across the river from Portland, OR). Our own Ana E. will be testing for Cho Dan! Region 1 will also conduct a tournament on Saturday, and a clinic on Sunday morning. Register Now!
Region 20 Tournament
October 3rd, San Diego. My daughter Ms. Charlotte Cooley will be promoted to E Dan! In past years, I organized a team house, and I'm open to it again this year. Let me know if you're interested in going!
What else?
Fall Class Schedule
I have really enjoyed the summer schedule, with one 90 minute class for all of us to train together, plus another 30 minutes of open studio for sparring and practice. As things are, I'm inclined to keep it this way thru the fall, unless and until we have too many students.
I got another dog!
I was only just recently considering the *idea* of opening my heart to another dog, when a truly good pup was literally handed to me. Say hello to Willow.

Phoebe is a little grumpy about it, but I think they're gonna balance out just fine.

Also, it is entirely coincidental that I now have two dogs that look like our logo. Serendipity.
